From the time we found out we were expecting twins. I thought HOW will I be able to manage my twins' when they start talking? I have been teaching them sign language which help a lot so we can communicating to what their 'needs'.
We have decided that it was time for me to contact Early Intervention (EI). I want to make sure that I am doing a great job ensuring that they are getting the vocal exposure/stimulation they need with the tools/resources/support available.
We will be attending the 1st appointment next week 07/25th for paperwork and assessment. On our 2nd appointment we are to find out if they are 'on track'.
*1st/2nd appointments with EI is FREE for screening.
With us being a deaf parents in that situation at home may qualify them for 'needing' the program for environmental speech support. This is why I was concern in verifying that they are on the right track, speech-wise, would be easily justified as their goal as an organization is to prepare infants/toddlers/preschoolers to be successful when they enter the school district (so the school district isn't inundated with scores of unprepared kindergarteners/first graders for whom they do not have sufficient staffing resources to support getting them caught up to their school-ready classmates).
Honestly, I think all twins' Mom should be getting their twins' evaluated since most of us have preemies babies. It will take the worries away from you because the service is being offer.
They go by 'annual income' for family of 4. If the annual is at $39,000-41,000 your service fees per month is $10 and it goes up depending on the income of your family.
